The prices of three popular antidepressants were announced in Washington in November to be at the lowest level since 2010. These are Risperdal and Seroquel.
“These are the drugs that are the most commonly prescribed antidepressants, and the average prices of the drugs are at the lower end of the retail price range,” according to an Associated Press statement. “The prices of the drugs for Seroquel and Risperdal are higher than any other drug in the market, and it’s a good news story.”
These prices were first reported by the Wall Street Journal. Both are available in both generic and brand-name forms.
The drugs were approved for use by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The drugs were first approved by the agency in 1996.
